Survivor, Head and Neck Cancer

Cindy Stemple is an Assistant Vice President in the financial services industry and an amateur musician who is a two-time survivor of head and neck cancer. In addition to her professional responsibilities, she currently serves as a non-scientist member on the Institutional Review Board for Cancer Research at OSUCCC-The James and as an ambassador for the Head & Neck Cancer Alliance in addition to volunteering for other cancer-related causes. She and her husband Michael live in Westerville, Ohio along with their fur-baby, a golden doodle named Cooper.

When Cancer Stole My Voice, Mindset Helped Me Find It

Talking about mindset feels like a minefield when it comes to cancer survivorship, but I’m going to do it anyway. In a world where we as cancer patients and survivors are constantly bombarded with toxic positivity and sentiments such as “Just Stay Positive” or “Everything Happens for a Reason,” the one suggestion that felt somewhat helpful to me (relatively speaking) was to “Take Things One Day at a Time.”
